Claes “Kittens on a Pillow”
This is too cool… a variation of the Claes “Glowing-Eyed Siamese Twin Kittens T-V Lamp” that includes a pink pillow/cat bed! The cats and pillow are not fused together, the lamp set into position on the base. Although the pillow isn’t marked it was clearly designed specifically for the purpose of supporting the cats, their contours fitting perfectly. Is this rare? You bet your sweet bippy! The lamp itself is relatively scarce, but the pillow is extremely rare. I should mention at this point that the example shown here is currently listed on eBay, and is auction #300153002999.
It fascinates me that after years of collecting I still come across finds such as this, and I wonder if other such variations were produced. I’m aware of at least two Claes TV lamps that are known only by photos, and given that they were made in comparatively low volume, who knows what treasures are waiting to be discovered?

HI, I WAS FORTUNATE TODAY TO PURCHASE A CLAES TV LAMP. IT IS OF TWO SIAMESE CATS - ONE FULL GROWN AND A KITTEN. THE EYES ARE BLUE AND VERY BEAUTIFUL THE EYES ARE PAINTED AND HALF CUT. THE BOTTOM IS SEE THROUGH AND OPEN. IF YOU WOULD LIKE I COULD SEND A PICTURE. THE CONDITION IS EXCELLENT AND HAS THE ORIGINAL ELECTRIC CORD. IT IS NUMBERED AT THE BOTTOM AND READS CLAES. THERE IS OTHER WRITING THAT IS A LITTLE DIFFICULT TO READ. THE MEASUREMENTS ARE 12 1/2 INCHES TALL AND THE WIDTH 9 3/4.
