Veteran lamp producer Alan Navis and Milton Smith joined forces to create the Navis & Smith Co. in 1946. Navis had been successful in the lamp business going all the way back to the 1920s, particularly in the southwest. Some of their products were marked with the Nasco Lamp brand.
