I suspect that many people, like myself, were drawn to TV lamps because of their humorous quality, a certain "tacky-factor" that many of them possess. Well folks, for my money this is the ugliest TV lamp ever produced... I love it! It is staggering that such an abomination was made by Maddux of California, one of the largest and most successful potteries of the day.
It's glazed in a seriously decor-unfriendly shade of yellow/orange with brown "antiquing" applied, perhaps in a futile attempt to tone down the color. If orange with a brown overlay wasn't bad enough, Maddux opted to fit it with a red plastic shade! The effect when lit is simply awe-inspiring. It is in fine condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs, and even the plastic shade, missing from many examples, is in good shape. The dimensions are 9¼" tall by 11" wide. You know you want it!
