Gonder Ceramic Arts was one of several potteries that thrived in the Zanesville, Ohio area. Their products are often unmarked (or sold under another name), but I've been assured that this is indeed a Gonder item. Depicting a craggy tree, it reminds me a great deal of the apple-tossing trees in the Wizard of Oz! It is in a deep translucent brown glaze, and is in fine condition. There's a line of bubbles in the glaze on the back, towards the top. (see bottom photo) As best as I can tell, one of the bubbles seems to have "burst" leaving what resembles a chip. A very unusual design!
